Danish Business Authority

Study of safety practices in small and medium-sized enterprises – 10 selected cases

Based on an analysis of practices in 10 selected companies, the Danish Business Authority requested assessments of the barriers to and consequential costs of digital security in Danish businesses. The main objective of the analysis was to create solid knowledge about the barriers Danish companies, especially SMEs, face in relation to digital security.

The report focused on three themes:

  1. The digital exposure
  1. The company’s risk management
  1. Risk recognition by business owners/managers

Part of the report looked at the costs faced by individual companies as a result of IT security breaches and, in particular, the impact on the competitiveness of the business. Finally, the report identified how key initiatives could support companies’ IT security.
